ADOPTED after 19 months in foster care! Yesterday Lee County - TopicsExpress

ADOPTED after 19 months in foster care! Yesterday Lee County rescue dog Seegar went to live with an 85-year-old gentleman, father of one of my Horsemasters friends, and his dog-loving caregivers. Seegar has a new brother, a Chihuaha/Terrier mix about the same size. The two dogs played and ran around the fenced yard like two boys at a birthday party. My friend, who lives next door to her dad, assures me that she and her siblings will be vying for the cutie-pie whenever her father is unable or unavailable to keep him. Her sister is an avid dog trainer, with many championship titles in Agility and Obedience. Im hoping she will continue Seegars training (he already has his AKC Canine Good Citizen Certificate) and pursue his natural talents for therapy dog work. I had pictured Seegar visiting sick children in the hospital, but now I think he would be perfect for visiting his new mom and her neighbors in the memory care facility. Happy day for Seegar. He has a warm, cozy house, is invited up on the sofa, has toys and dog treats all around, and has a new dad who thinks hes adorable. I had taken Lia and Seegar for the meet n greet, and although the dog and daughter preferred Lia, dad strongly preferred Seegar. I hope this sticks! The only concern is that once the existing dog realizes the newcomer is staying, he might get testy. But Seegar is a submissive dog, so even though its two males, it has a good chance of working. If it doesnt, they want Lia, so its a win either way.
