ADVICE NEEDED for Special Mom #psnm00757 My son is 9 years old and he is in a wheelchair. He is just like a 2 year old although he is 9. Lately I have been having too many behavior issues with him. He does not like to go out or to socialize. The other day I took him to get measured for AFOS which does not hurt and he spent the whole 30 minutes crying although I was just beside him and had his ipod playing because usually music calms him down. I want to know what other parents do to teach your child what they can do and what they cant do. I have searched online and all it says is to take away his toys or things they like. My son does not like to play with toys. For him his toys are his hand and mouth. He likes to hear himself make different noises. I do not want to hit my child but sometimes it seems like it is the only thing that makes him understand. But the problem with that is that if I try giving him a little slap in his hand in public he screams louder but when we are at home he stops doing whatever he is doing. So this method only works at home. Really where I need it to work is in public because there is where he misbehaves the most. Please direct me to any resources that I help me. I am desperate. I have stopped going out because of it so I have no friends because when I am invited to go out I always say no. Please help.
