AFC Caddington Chequers v Gibraltar Reserves After leading through Nick Wyatt and Leigh Elms in the first half, it looked as though Chequers had done enough to cement all three points until two late goals from Gibraltar finished the game with a draw. Chequers began showing two changes to the side that lost to ST Martins last week with Leigh Elms returning from suspension and Mark Griffiths slotting into Centre Midfield. Absentee David Wiles and Jamie Walker who was dropped to the bench were the players who made way. Having previously played Gibraltar in the League Cup earlier in the season, Chequers were fully aware of how difficult the task awaiting them was. However, it was chequers that started the brighter, creating many chances, but controversial decisions from the linesman prevented Caddington from seeing the game off. The hosts took the lead, from a short corner. Oktay laid the ball to Nick Wyatt who skipped past the on rushing defender and toe punted the ball out of the reach of the diving keeper into the bottom corner. 1-0 Caddington Eight minutes before half time, the lead was doubled by a composed finish from Chequers current top goal scorer Leigh Elms. 2-0 Caddington H/T Gibraltar begun the 2nd half much stronger and started to string passes together but couldn’t penetrate Chequers back four. Despite having more possession, Caddington’s Midfield and Defence stood strong and held out until the 80th minute in which Nick Wyatt bundled the attacker over in the box, in which a penalty was rewarded. Player/Manager David Cremin saved the initial shot, but couldn’t prevent the rebound despite the best efforts from Stuart Higgins who was the only chequers player to react. 2-1 Caddington It was the 89th Minute in which the hardwork from all chequers players was demolished when a lofted ball over the top seen their attacker pounce on it and slot it home under the helpless David Cremin which seen the game out to end 2-2.
