AFSHAR PERSIAN RUGS Afshar Persian rugs are woven by semi-nomads from the Afshar tribe around the city of Kerman in the southeast of Iran. They have Turkman origins and originally lived in the Northwest of Iran. As with many rugs woven by nomads, the design elements are often taken from their daily life, especially animals. Afshar rugs are very durable and are made from very high quality wool. They have very strong and clear colors. Find out why nomadic rugs such as these often have uneven lines in their design n this short video from Carpet Vista. Please note: The word guls is mentioned in the video as a design element but it is difficult to understand the word as pronounced by the young man in the video.
