AG1 just recently had an Air Show and VIP Reception to commemorate the WWII soldiers, sailors and aviators with the 70th Anniversary of D-Day. We appreciate them to no end as the Greatest Generation. As a historian, veteran and aviation supporter, I need to remind myself, on occasion, of the generation of heros that are standing in front of us, every day, that have worked tirelessly to make AG1 a unit that makes a difference in San Diegos community. These heros, competed as young men against 1000s of applicants for coveted pilot slots, endured and excelled in rigorous training to earn their military pilot wings. They flew the last gunfighters (F-8 Crusaders), fought in an unpopular war that many would like to forget, and returned to fly President Nixon or serve as a Chief Pilot in a commercial airline. What a lineage we have .... Thank you for letting us be in such good company.
