AGENEBODE – The Chairman, Etsako East Local Government Council, Hon. Abdulmalik Suleiman Afegbua has inaugurated an Economic and Internally Generated Revenue Team. Addressing the team, the council chairman stressed the determination of his administration to improve the finances and economy of the council with a view to boosting its internal generated revenue. He said that the issue of increased revenue is a matter of urgency, adding that he has earlier promised to concentrate on issues that would bring urgent relief to the people of Etsako East According to him, “the pressure is on us to deliver to our people the dividends of democracy; the expectation is high and that is the reason we cannot afford to fail them; we cannot continue to depend only on monthly federation revenue.” Hon. Afegbua who described member of the team as men and women of proven integrity and record of good performance, charged them to live up to expectation. The team has as its terms of reference of the committee are; to design an economic blueprint to direct the focus of the administration; to work out a comprehensive modality towards boosting the internally generated revenue; to create avenues for employment generation as well as emphasis other recommendations that would create investment opportunities in the locality. The council boss assured the team of government support in its assignment urging members to bring their experiences to bare on the onerous task of lifting Etsako East. The committee chairman is Prof. Marcel Okhakhu while other members are, Hon. Benedicta Attoh; Mr. Julius Olumese; Mr. Augustine Ogedegbe; Mr. Hon. Hyat Asunugie; Hon. Amos Osilamah; Hon. John Ododeh; Hon. John Bellor and Hon. Patrick Akowe. Responding on behalf of other members, Prof. Okhakhu thanked the chairman for giving them the opportunity to contribute their quota to the development of Etsako East, stressing that they will work as a team to actualise the desire goal.
