AIR 21 SET TO REPLACE IMPORT HERVE LAMIZANA WITH WESLEY WITHERSPOON By Snow Badua MANILA -- Exactly a week after the San Miguel Beermen changed their import, the Air 21 Express is following suit. An information reached Solar Sports Desk that the Bert Lina franchise is set to tap former Memphis Tiger Wesley Witherspoon. The 6-9 forward played for the New York Knicks in the 2013 NBA Summer League, where he averaged 8 points and 2.2 rebounds. He also had a preseason stint with the San Antonio Spurs. He will replace Herve Lamizana, who according to his agent Sheryl Reyes, will immediately fly to Puerto Rico for another playing stint. The release of Herve was a mutual agreement betwren our group and boss Lito Alvarez, said Reyes. Herve is not the player that coach Franz (Pumaren) needs according to him. But to be fair with my player, Lamizana is more of a defensive guy who brings in a lot of intangibles. And he is a silent assassin, added the outspoken agent, who also handles the Philippine career of Ginebra import Leon Rodgers. Witherspoon is expected to arrive in the country Friday where he will immediately join Air 21s practice. The Express should start utilizing Witherspoon against the Meralco Bolts on Sunday, March 23. - LA
