AIRM, 05.06.2013. ADVIT Moldova is happy to inform you that on June 3rd we are starting our 8 days international youth exchange “Mind your heritage!”, Action 3.1 project financed by the European Commission, Youth in Action Programme The Youth Exchange “Mind your heritage!” will gather 30 young people from Moldova, Ukraine, Armenia, Greece, Bulgaria and Poland and will aim at raising the awareness of the local and international communities on the cultural richness of the capital of Moldova, the city of Chisinau and express our concern about the future of the architectural element. We want to show that Chisinau has something more to offer than simply bars and restaurants, that in fact it is a monument of architectural art and we have to mind this heritage! Besides, this is the existing problem in many cities in many countries and through uniting our efforts for preserving the city heritage and for preventing it from becoming a plastic box, we will show to the international community that we are concerned about this issue and we mind the places we live in. The idea of this youth exchange comes from the real problem existing nowadays in the city of Chisinau. The old buildings, that represent the important cultural heritage and reflect on the history of the city and its citizen, are being destroyed or rebuilt and transformed into the modern restaurants, bars or hotels to attract more tourism investments. Therefore, the esthetic appearance of the city along with its historical background has being rapidly vanishing leaving no signs of the old times cultural glory and its citizens and international visitors lose any connection to the historical past of the city. Instead of promoting the architectural richness of the city of Chisinau nationally and internationally, that combines different styles and epochs, authorities step by step transform the city into the soulless urban centre with grey plastic constructions. And therefore we feel that it’s our time to unite the forces and raise awareness! In order to achieve our aims we are planning a serie of various activities, such as: working groups, open space sessions, projects development, meetings with local expert NGOs, City-quests and Photo exhibition in the Musem of Zemstvei of Chisinau. Besides that we will cook national food of all the participant countries and will share our traditions and cultures through non-formal learning and intercultural communication within the Youth in Action Programme.
