AKPABIO MARKS 6 YEARS IN OFFICE WITH LIFE TOUCHING PROJECTS After marking his six years administration with a Thanksgiving Service at Ibom Hall Ground, the executive governor of Akwa Ibom State is going round the state to commissioned series of life touching projects ranging from road to other infrastructural development. There are a lot of roads being mentioned and today he continue with the commissioning of Enen Nsit-Nsehe Road being judged as one of the longest in the state with about 21kilometers. I learnt also that some Security Villages are commissioned too which was a project initiated by the Inter-Ministerial Direct Labour Committee of the administration to accommodate local government chairman, secretary, DPO, and other senior staff of the council. Billions of Naira has been invested into that project across the 31 local government areas in the state and want to passionately appeal to the governor to compel the local government chairmen and others to occupy those beautiful structures to avoid defection. One of the high point of this commissioning is the FLAG-OFF of dualization of EKET-ETINAN ROAD awarded to CCECC, a five star construction company which did wonders on dualized Aka-Nung Udoe Road within less than two years and which is rated as one of the best road in the state if not the best with street light from beginning to end. I think the people of Eket and other adjoining local government of Nsit Ubium, Nsit Ibom and Etinan should roll out drums to appreciate the governor for sticking to his promise to dualize that road during his second inauguration speech two years ago. No wonder he is christened "THE PROMISE KEEPER." Governor Akpabio is indeed a detribalize leader with a big heart. While listening to his short but long speech on Democracy Day last Wednesday, I was deeply convinced that the governor meant well for the people of Akwa Ibom State when he re-emphasized his commitment to dualize Eket-Ibeno Road that has been messed up by NDDC for over three years now. So Ibeno and Eket people and thousands who ply that route can sigh some relieve as their agony has reach the throne of grace. In the same spirit, I once again appeal to the governor to also re-visit IKOT AKPATEK-IKWE-ODIO ROAD also abandoned by the NDDC for 13 good years now despite series of petition and SOS sent to the agency to complete that project. Odio people and other communities have suffered untold hardship as a result of this insensitivity on the part of NDDC through its contractor, Worldwide Environmental Technologies Ltd. I think it is expedient on the administration to take a drastic measure to leverage the people especially students of the affected communities from the risk of crossing a running stream which the bridge has been dismantled years back. It is also on record that Odio community has not benefited from any single Inter-Ministerial Direct Labour Project of this administration even when such is spread around in other communities. The people will appreciate His Excellency if this anomaly is corrected. As the governor continue in his development effort, we must encourage him to do more in the remaining two years of his administration and give him unflinching support to finish well. By 2015, God in his wisdom will bring a man that will consolidate on the Uncommon Transformation of this administration and Akwa Ibom people will continue to enjoy the dividend of democracy as jobs will be created and our youth will have food on their table. Today, am going no where but to witness the Flag-off of dualization of Eket-Etinan Road. It is happening in my time and I have every reason to say God bless Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio and the entire administration for making this dream come true. The best is always ahead.
