AKUME JUSTIFIES ORTOMS CHOICE AS APC GUBER CANDIDATE Senate Minority and Benue State All Progressives Congress, APC, leader, Senator Dr George Akume, listed Chief Dr Ortom’s antecedents as someone concerned about the plight of the people as well as his dependability as justification for his choice as the party’s governorship candidate. Senator Akume made the disclosure at the flag off of the APC statewide campaigns at the RCM Primary School, Zaki-Biam, Ukum local government area yesterday. The former governor stated that having worked closely with the erstwhile Minister of State, Industry, Trade, and Investment, he and other leaders had noticed his passions and responses to the challenges of the people in his little way and concluded that if given the opportunity he could do more. He said although it was the concensus of the majority of the people that the next governor of the state should come from the Minda geopolitical axis he subscribed to the position of the late J S Tarka that both the Tor Tiv and Governor should not come from the same lineage at the same time. Senator Akume denied claims that he hated a particular group among the Tiv saying he loved the entire people of the state and cannot discriminate against people from any part. He explained that political parties were like rivers that needed to be boosted through several means including dredging by welcoming new members otherwise they would become extinct with time. According to him inspite of the challenges of payment of debts accumulated over time when he was governor he did not default in governments obligations in the current magnitude in the state and urged the people to float along with the wind of change blowing across the country by voting out the ruling party. The Senate Minority Leader stated that the APC accepted Chief Dr Ortom and Senator Gemade into its fold because they were the remaining progressive elements within their former party stressing that their departure and other people of similar stature nationwide signified the demise of that party. In his remarks Senator Gemade stated that the team leading the state at the moment was God ordained to lead the people out of the woods and solicited their votes. He urged the people to resist the move of President Goodluck Jonathan to pay N8 billion compensation in respect of the Zaki-Biam military invasion to Governor Gabriel Suswam saying it was not his entitlement but that of the affected people who sued submitting that if paid the governor would use the amount to rig the forthcoming polls. Senator Gemade charged the people not to sell their permanent voters cards or divulge its security features to anyone in order not to mortgage their future. APC governorship candidate, Chief Dr Ortom pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him saying he would add value to all sectors, if elected, but place priority on job and wealth creation through Industrialization, boosting of commercial activities and attraction of investment into the state. #ChangeIsPossible #TheWorkMan #TheManOfThePeople #2015Elections #AGreaterBenue #InGodWeTrust
