AKWA IBOM POLITICS SHOULD UDOM EMMANUEL BECOME GOVERNOR OF AKWA - TopicsExpress

AKWA IBOM POLITICS SHOULD UDOM EMMANUEL BECOME GOVERNOR OF AKWA IBOM STATE? Only recently I went to this Sports Bar to have myself a bottle of chilled Maltina drink. The day had been relatively hot and I was feeling somewhat dehydrated. While the malt drink cooled me off, my ears could not resist hearing the heated argument and interaction of some Akwa Ibom State young men. The summary of their argument? UDOM IS NOT RIGHT. They argued that Udom Emmanuel is an imposition , a stooge. They also asked questions like: What does he really know about politics? When did he join the PDP? Isnt the requirement to be voted for in the PDP that one should have been a PDP member for at least one year? Does Udom Emmanuel speak his language fluently? Isnt Godswill Akpabio trying hard to cover his extravagant spending of the States resources? Why should a family control the state? Didnt Akpabio insult elder statesmen i.e Arc Obong Victor Bassey Udo-Adiaha Attah and Don Etiebet? Why were they not there at the so-called PDP primaries? How is it possible that Nsima Ekere didnt have a single vote in Ikot Abasi, his local government, during the PDP primaries but then got 2 votes in Eket? As the arguments - or should I say, agitations - raged on, it occurred to me that a governorship drama will most likely happen in Akwa Ibom State during the 2015 elections. Now, that was not the first time I was hearing such intense complaints or agitations Walk down the street. Feel the pulse of the people. The Akwa Ibom people, a majority of them, are irritated, agitated. Only the naive will say this is not so? I shudder as I reflect on the prevailing facts. Yet the elites and some sycophants keep the rants on: Udom is right Now, is Mr. Emmanuel Udom not fit to be Governor? Personally, I think he is a fine gentle man. He has a bit of corporate experience here and there(Even though I know that the corporate world and the political world dont play on the same rules.) As an Akwa Ibomite, constitutionally, he should contest and be given a chance. But again shouldnt Umana Okon Umana have been given a chance in the PDP Governorship primaries in Akwa Ibom State? It is true that zoning is entrenched in the PDP constitution. However, based on the zoning argument, is it the turn of Godswill Akpabio to be senator of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district? Some findings say no. Why isnt all the sections of the PDPs constitution adhered to? We agreed that power should go to Anang in 2007, didnt we? Why didnt a person from Ini local Government or Ikono local Government contest for the PDP Governorship primaries in 2007? The unspoken fact was that it was assumed that Ini and Ikono, even though categorized as Anang, still spoke the ibibio language. The question thus is this: Isnt Ona local Government, where Udom Emmanuel hails from, an Ibibio speaking part of the so-called Eket Senatorial district? Shouldnt it go to a core Eket person or Oron person, if we are to go by the so-called PDP zoning? The questions were many. I listened to these young men with keen interest as they kept debating issues. As an Akwa Ibomite, I am concerned. The politicians know that I dont dance around any of them. If they want to hear the truth, it is from people like me they can hear it from. Because we dont do PA and SA or praise singing for anyone. I never have and never will. God is and will help us. Yet I plead with us in Akwa Ibom State to vote peacefully Akwa Ibom has been known to be a very peaceful state and it should remain so. We dont want any blood shed. Our voters card is our power! Your phone and the social media is your power. Snap scenes and post. There are camera buttons and pens for sale. Call me on 08187133153 and I can help you get one. Monitor your votes and the counting. Rigging can be minimized My appeal also goes to PDP. Please let the people vote. If Udom is right, the people will say. To APC. Put your house in order. Umana Okon Umana should not totally exonerate himself from what happened in the Akpabio regime. What is the talk about him being a very rich man? Where did he get that money from? Business? I doubt so. If he is to contest for APC (I hear Udo udeghe camp are still contending for power), let him not incite the youths. I listened to him on Planet FM the other day and I was disappointed at his remarks. Oga sir, tell us what you would do for Akwa Ibom State. Convince us with your manifesto. Dont drag us into your duel with your former boss. I hear there is an Accord party with a Bishop Akpan heralding. Can anyone tell him to drop his Bishopic title? May be that will increase his chances. We all have reservations about his Olumba Olumba Obu affiliation And the 22 agitated contestants at the PDP governorship primaries. Yes you have the right to fight for your rights In all, let peace reign Long live AkWA IBOM STATE Long live the Federal republic of Nigeria.
