ALERT: Irvingites, Please read this for your own security as well as your pocketbook. The other night, we had a security company canvasing our neighborhood. I did not like the way they pushed their way into the house with my disabled husband nor the way they were using scare tactics to try and get him to sign an agreement I could hear my son, Stephen Goodgame telling them to leave the house several times. One of them finally left but he was angry and stormed out of the house. The other was a little nicer but my son still had to tell him a couple more times to leave. As I was pulling up to the house, I had called my son and could hear the conversation over the phone. After they left, Stephen came out and told me some of the questions they were asking his father. They wanted to know where all the entrances were, where people usually gathered when they came to visit, etc. The more I heard, the more uncomfortable I became. I called the police and reported the incident. An officer was sent to the neighborhood to check on them. They do have a state permit but DO NOT have a city permit. They are known to quickly hit an area and quickly leave. They also are known to use scare tactics and frighten you into signing a contract. The officer told them they would have to leave and followed them out of the neighborhood. The name of the company was GHS. I tell you this for two reasons. The first is to be alert and call the police if you see them in your neighborhood. The second reason is to thank the IPD for acting quickly and responding as fast as they did. I have several elderly neighbors on the street. I would have hated seeing them taken advantage of. Therefore, a SHOUT OUT to the Irving Police Department!
