ALERT: There is a phone scam going around with people impersonating the IRS and stating you owe the IRS money and will be arrested within the hour if you dont call back. One of the phone numbers they want you to call back is (202) 864-1329. Some callers have heavy accents, work in pairs and are very aggressive. Do not respond. Law enforcement, including the FBI, is aware of this scam but theres little they can do other than warn citizens, especially elders, that this is a scam. The IRS will never contact you by phone, its always by mail. We are working on a story for next weeks edition; in the meantime, please pass the word.
