ALIYAH AND THE LAND OF MILK AND HONEY IS A JOKE FOR JEWS LIKE ME - TopicsExpress

ALIYAH AND THE LAND OF MILK AND HONEY IS A JOKE FOR JEWS LIKE ME WHO HAVE CHOICES. I am not a refugee, at least not for the foreseeable future, and even if I was..... Unless the Israeli government and the citizens of Israel gets their act together, and are willing to fight for Israel, aliyah is not going to be happening for Jews like me or my five grown children who have choices and who are not under direct duress or threat in their own nations. Even in the EU, in France as bad as things are, they look worse in Israel. The Jew cannot rely on the nations law or leadership to protect him/her.. The Jew does not have political representatives that look out for his/her interests. The electoral system is a joke. What reason would there be to live in Israel when the truth is that the Arabs have the upper hand, law and order have been relegated to extreme violence and a Jew cannot walk down the streets of Jerusalem without fear of being murdered? This is something I am now beginning to wake up to, the truth. When a three month old baby is beheaded in her sleep (Itamar) , another is murdered in her carriage and thrown 20 meters into the street, what kind of society is this? When cement is sold to our worst enemies again after the fact (discovering the plot to slay Jews on New Years) I think this is not a civilized world, this is hell on earth. When a government allows cement to build Gaza, when the government takes dives to lose wars. especially when the government has THE POWER TO Stop it but wont- this is not the Israel that I believed in. The problem is not that I am unwilling to fight for Israel, but that you the Israeli citizens wont fight for Israel. Complaining is not fighting. Israel is not the land of milk and honey today, it is the land where the Arab has control over a Jews peace of mind. I am bitterly heartbroken. The dream of living in a Jewish country where there is national pride and loyalty for the state and each other has been destroyed. As bad as things are here, my children make a living and can buy their own homes. And we do have Jewish communities all over the nation, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Milwaukee, Denver, Chicago. At least here I know that if I speak up and against my government, if I protest on the streets, I have laws that protect me. As a Jew I have rights- and yes Obama is a piece of work, a Jew hater, but soon because of our constitution and presidential system, he will be gone. I thought long and hard about this, and as a Jewess who had the dream her entire life of living in a Jewish land, I have come to the conclusion that my dream is but a dream. I have hope, but honestly it is realistic and measured. Call me negative, call me what you will, but nothing but a radical change in the way Israel treats its own people will change my mind. I am nauseated and sickened by the whole scene. I will always fight for Israel, I will always hold my head up high, but I will be damned if I am going to sell my home, leave my family and friends to come to a place where I can be murdered on the streets, or arrested for speaking my truth. My heart breaks for Israel. Shalom, Deborah P.S A few people wrote and told me my previous statement harms Israel- that is absurd!!!! The bottom line is that remaining silent and quiet like a frightened defenseless ghetto Jew helps no one - if Jews can be murdered under these circumstances and a thousand Arabs were not rounded up and arrested the next day, then the Israeli government is not willing to protect us. If in a country where Jews are a 80 per cent of the majority, with the most powerful army in the Middle East, and we are so afraid of the Arabs living amongst us, and they are not afraid of us, then our government has failed. We behave like little lambs at the slaughter.
