ALL THINGS ARE NEW IN CHRIST “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (Corinthians 5:17) The purest holiness is the holiness of newness: No matter how an old man is pure, he can never be as pure as a new man; for oldness and wrinkles are defects themselves. Therefore, God is not just purifying his people, but he is turning them into new creatures. 1. According to the flesh, the opposite of an old man is a young man; but, 2. According to the Spirit of Christ, the opposite of an old man is a new man. This is the reason why I frown at artist who portrays the image of the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ as an Old man, having white beards – what an insult: God is the Ancient of Days (Daniels 7:9), but he is not an old man or old personality. If God is old, he will not be as holy as we even imagined him to be. Therefore, old things are passed away even in God and in his awesome presence, and all things are become new. God is still creating things today, as he created in the first week of Genesis; however, in the first creation, God made all things and they began to move from new to old: but in the new creation, God is making all things new: As it is written, “He that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said to me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, “It is done.” (Revelation 21:5-6) Of what use is sanctification, if the vessels that were sanctified remained old in nature, even when they are pure in that nature? That is the difference between the sanctifications in the old covenant and the sanctification in the new covenant: 1. The old covenant could sanctify to make one pure and holy, but could not make him new (Hebrews 9:13); but, 2. The Mediator of the New testament in the blood of Jesus could both sanctify and make one new (Hebrews 9:14-15). Even the old covenant itself is old by reason of the new covenant: As it is written, “In that he says, “A new covenant, he has made the first old. Now that which decays and waxes old is ready to vanish away.” (Hebrews 8:13). If any man is in Christ Jesus, he is a new creature, for old things are passed away, behold all things are new (2 Corinthians 5:17): there is no old thing found in Christ Jesus, for an old thing is not part of him. 1. In the natural what is first to come is most times older than what is last to come, while the last or latest is newer than the first or previous; but 2. In Christ Jesus, neither the first to come has more preference nor the last to come; rather it is the newest in nature that avails above the oldest. As it is written, “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision avails any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.” (Galatians 6:15): Therefore, put on the new manhood who is created after God in Righteousness and True Holiness (Ephesians 4:24): Yes put on the new man and keep renewing that man to remain newer, through acquiring and walking in the knowledge of he who makes the new man (Colossians 3:10). There is no true new man apart from Jesus Christ.
