ALL YOUNG PROS - RESPONSE NEEDED!!! Hey guys, Im considering a retreat for the Young Pros community (guys and gals) over Memorial Day weekend. The location I am considering is a camp called Camp St. Christopher on Seabrook Island (A private town/resort community island near Charleston, SC). The camp is a beautiful, rustic setting on the island with cabins right on a pretty private beach (only those staying/living on the island can access - and not many venture down into the camp area), lots of stuff to do including hiking in a maritime forest with numerous trails, basketball courts, fishing, firepit on the beach, general fields for playing ultimate or whatever, bikes you could rent and ride around the island on beautiful roads with beautiful houses (the rest of the island is a resort), possible kayaking through some rivers and intercoastal-type waterways where you lose all sight of man-made structures and see beautiful wildlife (this would be an additional expense), only 30 minutes from downtown Charleston, etc. Its a gorgeous place - Rachel and I stayed on the island this past summer on a vacation with my family. Also I want to have the opportunity for our community to get away together, have some fun and fellowship time, and also to be able to give a couple of talks that speak into where we are as a community and where I believe the Lord is leading us - basically give some kind of state of the union/vision casting type stuff. It will be a great environment for just hanging out, having fun and for having some extended opportunities to have significant conversations about what God is doing in our church and in our community. But I need to reserve space ASAP and dont want to overcommit. So if you would be seriously interested in going (aka I will be there unless my schedule doesnt allow)would you comment on this post to let me know since we dont have Sunday School right now and I cant ask that way. Memorial Day Weekend will be May 22-24. Its about 4 hours away. We will arrive Friday evening (unless you can get off of work early and come down early), and be done by noon on Sunday, but since Monday is Memorial Day I imagine some will have the day off and it would be fun for as many as wanted to go spend the afternoon in Charleston and get back later Sunday night. I anticipate the cost being around $100 for two nights stay, two breakfasts (Sat and Sun), meeting space and snacks, probably another meal on campus of the camp, along with all other space well be using at the camp and some other activities that are included (pretty much anything but bike rental and kayaking). Yall this place is beautiful and it will be a blast! Let me know if youre interested ASAP so I can try to make sure we dont miss the opportunity to go - its filling up fast.
