ALLY McCOIST makes one injury-enforced change to his Rangers team for this afternoon’s home SPFL Championship encounter with Dumbarton. Fraser Aird came off in the closing stages of Monday’s 8-1 Petrofac Training Cup win over Clyde at Ibrox with a dead leg. And having been ruled out of this one by the manager at yesterday’s pre-match press conference, the teenager is replaced in the side by David Templeton. He comes in on the left flank and that means Lewis Macleod moves over to the right to compensate for the loss of Aird. Otherwise, it’s the same side which was so convincing against the Bully Wee which gets the chance to shine once again against Ian Murray’s visitors. Steve Simonsen continues in goal with Cammy Bell sidelined by a shoulder injury picked up in last Friday’s 2-0 win at Falkirk. Although Ian Black is fit and available again, he remains on the bench with captain Lee McCulloch chosen to partner Nicky Law in central midfield. Kenny Miller was assessed in the hours leading up to this afternoon’s game and it was felt he’s not yet ready to return from a hamstring strain. That means he’s left out altogether and Nicky Clark joins Kris Boyd up front once again after they paired up five days ago. McCoist has gone for the same defence again so Darren McGregor play at right-back as Richard Foster remains out. Marius Zaliukas and Bilel Mohsni turn out at the heart of the back line and Lee Wallace completes the starting XI at left-back. With 17 miles separating the clubs, this is as close to a derby as Rangers will get in the league this season. This is their first meeting with the Sons since the 1993/94 season, when the teams were actually drawn together in both the Scottish Cup and the League Cup. Gers were winners on both occasions and are without defeat in their last 44 fixtures against Dumbarton. Their last defeat to them came 120 years in the 1894/95 campaign.
