ALMOST HOME NO-KILL SHELTER HOSTS WEEKEND-LONG ADOPT-A-THON Southfield, MI – Hot off the heels of National Pet Adoption month Almost Home Animal Rescue League is set to host a weekend-long adoption event on July 12, 13, and 14. This event, labeled an adopt-a-thon, will focus on finding new homes for the organization’s 85+ current animals and will be held on shelter grounds at 25503 Clara Lane, Southfield, MI 48034. Event hours will run from 10AM – 10PM and will feature themed adoption specials that will highlight our senior animals, long-term residents, best buddies, and other specific groupings. Almost Home will have Early-Bird Specials where adopters get 25% off the adoption fee between the hours of 10AM-Noon. A long-time volunteer and current volunteer coordinator, Laura Ochab, shares that “By giving people the opportunity to come to the shelter and meet all of our animals, we will increase awareness about Almost Home and give every animal a chance to find their forever home. These extended hours will give people who can’t make our normal 12-5 adoption hours a chance to stop by and see all we have to offer.” Co-founder of Almost Home, Lauren Anchill, said “If by the end of the weekend, we adopt out 20 animals, we’d be thrilled that our efforts have paid off. Six-seven animals a day, it’s an obtainable goal that we’re going to aim for.” For those unable to attend the event, donations may be made online at almosthomeanimals.org. Almost Home Animal Rescue League is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that operates a 100% no-kill shelter in Southfield, Michigan, and is dedicated to finding loving forever homes for homeless, abused and neglected animals. Almost Home was founded in 2001 by mother-daughter team Gail Montgomery and Lauren Anchill.
