ALS Awareness Campaign through Ice Bucket Challenge (aka Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Disease) Thank you Joel Ryan Lee for this special nomination. Really shocked by how this #IceBucketChallenge took the whole world by storm. And now, I am in it too. I am in it not just for the super cold ice bucket but the good cause behind it. I have not heard of ALS disease up until now. After much research, I get to know that this fatal disease is actually underfunded in the medical industry. It is estimated that ALS is responsible for two deaths per hundred thousand population annually. The incidence of ALS is five times higher than Huntington’s disease and about half that of multiple sclerosis. You can read more about it at alsa.org. Anyway, reading about ALS and doing the challenge is not all. The bigger picture is contributing to the whole awareness on ALS. You can do the ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE (because it’s really FUN!) as well as donating to fund the further research on the disease. (Specifically on ALS, you can make your kind donation at alsa.org.)
