AM POST 2: Still no power since 8am on Sunday. But.....Im managing. Two days ago an announcement was made on the radio to call 955 if you were still without power. I did. The recording listed all the areas still without power at that time....and my area was not on the list. But as I entered my phone number at the prompt the voice recording indicated that my report had been recorded. I have a gut feeling that I will be without power for a very long time. I saw sparks flying from a pole in the early morning hours of the storm as I looked out the door but my power remained on for about an hour after. In fact, my power didnt go out until right before the winds began to die down. Go figure.....ALL the houses around mine have power except mine and perhaps 2 others. I think our power outage is isolated and that we will be overlooked. Nonetheless, we wait! And with Gonzy on his way Im not expecting BELCO to get to my area. This situation has definitely upped my patience. Traveling with bags from point A to point B has become the norm. I dont miss tv as I rarely watch it anyway. Ill clear my fridge today - went by last night and it stinks - but even though Ill lose a lot of food, its a great time to clean the fridge. In the process of moving the fridge out to unplug it, a huge heavy glass decorative plate fell from the top of it and crashed to the floor......gone...broken.....but in times like these material possessions such as that dont matter (albeit it was a plate Id had from my grandmother) :( Life goes on.....I continue to wait...........
