AMERICANS HEAVILY FAVOR QUARANTINES FOR RETURNING MEDICAL VOLUNTEERS FROM EBOLA REPUBLICS By an overwhelming majority, Americans favor imposing quarantines on returning medical volunteers returning home after service in Ebola Republics. Fully three-quarters of all Americans favor such quarantines. An even larger majority - 80% - favor the imposition of restrictions on the movements of such people. There is nothing new with this type of mentality. During periods of grave emergencies of fear and scare, people put aside their learning and return to full reliance on commonsense solutions for quick, easy and simple fixes. The late Senator Fulbright of Arkansas once observed that, invariably, such commonsense solutions are wrong. So he voted against the Tompkins Gulf Resolution that authorized then US President Lyndon Johnson to go to war against the Communist regime in North Viet Nam. The result: over 55,000 Americans dead, hundreds of thousands wounded and trillions of dollars down the tubes - and no victory! But the vote in the US Senate was 99 to 1 - Fulrbright being the lone wolf - in favor of the Gulf of Tompkins Resolution. For that, some jokers referred to him Halfbright. Never mind, Fulbright won. Years later, after the casualty and costs figures were in, people began to understand his thinking. But now-a-days, some Americans have reverted to commonsense but the Federal Government isnt buying it.
