AMONG THE VARIOUS PROGRAM WE HAVE FOR YOU THIS WEEK, WE URGE YOU TO DEEPLY REFLECT ON THIS BASIC PLATFORM ON WHICH ALL OUR PLAN STANDS ON; THE SPEECH OF MR PRESIDENT OF THE ORGANIZATION IN THE INAUGURAL MEETING HELD ON 17TH - 08 - 2013. IN VICTORY COLLEGE, OLUGBOJA HALL, IKARE. IKARE CONCERNED YOUTH ORGANIZATION is a child of circumstance and born out of unalloyed passion to reunify our lovely Land called Ikare. The name of the organization coined from the word concerned. I want you all to agree with me that it is the same concerned passion that brought all of us together today. Some of us witnessed while some heard the beautiful story of Ikare when it was in its real self. It used to be one of the most important Yoruba towns, not only in the small Ondo State. It was one of the commercial hubs of the old Western Region. It is strategically located; stand a nodal town and boundary many states. It boundaries present Ekiti, Kogi and Edo States. But, it is unfortunate that all the aforementioned are old advantages to its rapid growth in 50s to 70s. The trend of modern civilization that stands the agent of population-force such as Higher Institutions, Seat of Government, Industrializations etc that changed the faces of Akure, Ondo, Owo, Ado, Ikere and Akungba around us are lacking in Ikare. The absence of these deeply pushes us to the backyard of its Contemporaries. Instead we mirror our challenges from that Corner; we begin to chase a ghost shadow as the course of our retrogression. The assertion that prevail among our people are: • ‘Epe emee ja Ikare’ • ‘Ihon baha emee daha amu’ • ‘Sukare momo kawe nibegbe hon kawe’ Meanwhile, all the above are not fact but mere saying that almost become norm to Ikares, both literates and illiterates. Many towns that are beautifully developed in Ondo state is not by magic. Their subjects know it is impossible to grow without annexing their Human Resources. These resourceful subjects that make it obtainable in those various towns are not in any way useful or better than Ikare sons and daughters. The few salient ingredients that differentiate us are love and massive cooperation in planning to hit their common targets one after the other. In Ondo, Owo, Ado, Akure etc are today the leading towns around us. At a time in the past, they were not up to us by all standard but they could be able to achieve this greater height due to their common decision making. As Owo has Chief Segun Ojo, Otunba Fasawe etc, so also the Mimikos in Ondo town. Ikare is not left out in that realm. The Chief Kunle Abdul, Chief Jobitex, of his blesses memory, Chief Segun Abraham, Chief Bisi Ogunjobi, Chief Kaslat, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, Alhaji Kazeem and hundreds and thousands of them are out there to lead the course of Ikare development. They are resourceful enough to lift Ikare as the Gladiators in the rock of Gibraltar. Alas! The question is, do they have a Common Ground in decision making not to talk of pursuing such goal with one voice? It is high time to bend our brains in Ikare over our salient issues like the duo are doing in most our Contemporary towns before it becomes too late. Yes! Meetings are taking place both locally and globally like this. The meetings of ours may be local as usual but we want it to have multi - facial and directional key ingredients that will characterize it a global standard. One of the areas we pivoted our strength on is to constructively challenge ourselves both home and abroad, poor and rich to pick up one out of Ikare various developmental human and infrastructural projects, build it to a physical object that will portray the image of the town whose will eventually spread the seed of love, annexation, responsibility and familiarization psychologically among us. The Charter of United Nations that upholding and propagating the sovereignty of a state which snow - balls to democratic system of government is simply demonstrating and strengthening the need to shun autocracy that encourages war, slavery, hatred and rigidity among humanities. The spelling of democracy which is the root of combined efforts to decision making is a driving force to move the society. Psychologically, our system of government is passing through us but we often fault it in Ikare. What do I mean is that Ikare is a symbol of hatred among its subjects. We are running autocracy within ourselves. We neither love one another nor being flexible within. This has a deep effect in us. It is this same culture we exported and exhibited where ever we find ourselves. That is why today, we are confused even in the mist of plenty resources buried in us. To achieve, development and growth, we need to make a change of heart by realizing the futile culture of hatred, rigidity we hold on to tenaciously has become a thing of the past. Hence, we must begin to reason like a modern society. However, our target so far about this meeting is to record the trend of success that will be characterized the modern Ikare of our dream within the purview of our five pillars. 1. We must begin to celebrate our spectacular sons and daughters that have one way or the other achieve in their various professions. 2. We should begin to mirror ourselves as a mere mortal and subset of Ikare rather than the Love of the Ring. 3. We must sincerely and collectively throw our weights-in to improve the lot of Ikare from the present dreg. 4. We must collectively form a Cone to drive home exceptional and competitive positions in all spheres of professions. 5. With the above, all our misfortune that has been tailing our legs will turn to our fortunes. We should as a matter of fact be grateful to God almighty that despite we are the enemy of our potential resources, many more Akokos are still psychologically submissive and accept our giant as natural donor. Our togetherness, spectacular planning and annexing resources will not only see us true as a community but the entire Akokos from our common perilous contemporaries. On equal term, we should desist from blaming one another and our forefathers. We are all involved in the downfall of our town. Instead, ask yourself what you can do for the town from now on. Let us genuinely develop love for it. Revitalizing your heart will be amounted to exulting Ikare. Our Constitutional Aims and Objectives are doctored to centralize on various Ikare developmental challenges, identified them and proffer possible solutions to them. 1. We aim at socializing the community by bridging all Ikare Groups, Associations and Organization in and outside the shore of the land. 2. Establish Empowerment and Employment Annual festival to promote and assist government agenda. 3. 3. To establish Ikare Estate. 4. To celebrate cooperate synergy between government and Ikare indigenes annually. 5. To promote, encourage, support and sponsor Ikare sons/daughters to the State and National political zenith through effective output (1-4) of the above. With the above, we visualized the oneness, unity of purpose, unification, natural love and respect for which every one of us will be lifted without further discrimination. Our mission is by the grace of GOD to build a new home of our town out of the old one that can be proud of Globally, walked tall among its equals by tapping diversified idea from the true sons and daughters of the Land through the encouragement of socialization among ourselves. To cap it all, we identified various projects whose are displaying on the screen of this projector ready and pleading for your attention to be carried out collectively or individually according to your pocket annually. We are very sorry for our position on item 7. We are youths who do not have much to satisfy your needs nor go cap in hands to seek for unpardonable fund. It is not food this time around; it is all about out pertinent love for our town. We cannot but appreciate the true sons and daughters of Ikare that have been so wonderful whose their promises were to support us in the moon and the sun. They do not only support us but carry the problem of Ikare on their head and sincerely pursue it more than us. People like Alhaji Balogun, Engineer Yusuf, Mr Bode Ariyo and Mr. Bode Ajigbolamu. We know many Ikares are ready to support hence we appreciate you all that contributed to the success of this inaugural meeting. Thank you all. Ukare ni baje o. Ukare e gbea o, amin o.
