AMOSUNS HOME CHARTER SECRET FUND HACKED FROM GATEWAY SAVINGS AND LOAN, AS AMOSUN ORDERS ARREST OF BANK MANAGER Clemency was thrown to the wind at the weekend as heavy security agents stormed the Abeokuta branch of Skye bank PLC over an alleged missing N30million of Gateway Savings and Loan. the fund suspected to be a secret money accrued from Home Owners Charter programme was lodged secretly by Governor Amosun into the account. Gateway Savings and Loan is the financial banking of the Ogun state government. An anonymous source in the Oke-Ilewo branch of the bank told our reporter that, the stern-looking policemen stormed the bank premises with Armoured Patrol Carrier (Armoured Tank) around 4:30pm and harrasing innocent customers who were using the ATM machines. The anonymous bank official said, they were notified of a fraud in the Gateway Savings and Loan Limited internet account and immediately told the financial institution (gateway savings) to give them time to investigate what went wrong, but within an hour, the Senior Special Adviser on Security to Governor Ibikunle Amosun led a team of policemen with patrol vehicles and ordered for the arrest of all the staff of the bank. The source further told our reporter that, after several argument and reluctance of the banks staff for the release of their Manager, a senior staff (name withheld) of the bank was taken to Ibara police station for statement. According to him, the management of Gateway savings and Loan came to our bank to lodge a complain of perpetual fraud and debit of about N30million naira in their internet account of our bank. Since it is an internet transaction, we told them to give us time to call on our technologists to investigate the issue. Within an hour around 4:30pm the SSA to Governor Amosun on Security came to our bank with about eight police vehicles and one Armoured tank chasing away all customers within the bank premises saying they are acting on the order of the governor to arrest the Manager if the money is not provided. we told them they cant arrest anybody from the bank since there was no personal contact with anybody from the bank before the transaction was made and it was only management of Gateway Savings and Loan that know the password of the internet account, we told them someone within their organization who was privy to the password must have backed their account. Eventually, a senior staff was taken away to Police station to write down statement and was immediately released. However, when pressmen visited the OPIC building of the Skye bank in Abeokuta around 6pm, about eight police patrol vehicles and one Armoured Carrier including mobile policemen were stationed within and outside the bank premises causing traffic gridlock for over an hour.
