AMU stands for education without any discrimination The vicious - TopicsExpress

AMU stands for education without any discrimination The vicious propaganda of the national media is highly condemnable as it deliberately attempts to malign the image of the Aligarh Muslim University. I want to make it clear that AMU stands for education without any discrimination. On the issue of the MA Library, the national media deliberately attempted to present AMU as an anti-women campus. A single visit to Maulana Azad Library would have explained to them the nature of their malicious agenda. The hundreds of female students studying in the Central Library on daily basis are a clear refutation to their baseless reporting. In regards to Women’s College students’ failing to access Maulana Azad Library, the statement of The Honourable Vice Chancellor has been blown out of proportion only to misguide the readers. Our Honourable Vice Chancellor himself knows thousands of female students comfortably benefiting from Maluana Azad Library, so to attribute a statement to him meaning a ban of women to access Maulana Azad Library is total misrepresentation of facts and their context. Anyone who knows AMU, also knows that female PG students’, girls from professional courses and women research scholars continuously benefit from MA library. However, the fact of the matter is that AMU has a separate Women’s College with all facilities provided within the College Campus. The requirements of teaching, dining, leadership etc. are being fulfilled within their campus. The similar way, the College has its own library meant to cater the requirements of the students of the College. The genuine Right of the girls to have access to MA Library is undeniable, and they should be provided access to all books in the library. A practical mechanism needs to be operative on ground to fulfil their demand, and if any problems are faced in this context, then it is totally an administrative issue and has nothing to do with gender bias. Here, we need to understand that MA Library lacks space to entertain entire student fraternity, so separate arrangements have been made on the basis of departments, faculties and residential halls through book banks and seminar libraries. The girls of Women’s College and students’ of Higher secondary school level (Both boys and girls) have been asked to benefit from respective libraries. However, in times of need, there needs to be a feasible mechanism in place to reach out to books in MA Library. Also, it needs to be added that Honourable Vice Chancellor should stop using irresponsible words to avoid any meaningless debate by the anti-University elements. Instead of hiding his faults in administration and using unnecessary words, he should genuinely address the students’ problems at AMU. He should urgently take stock of situation and ensure the no student at AMU feels deprived from right to access the knowledge. He should serious undertake efforts to address the demands of the students’ fraternity.
