AN APPEAL: Friends, please suggest names of Speakers and Participants for the following Two-Day Workshop that we are planning to convene: Science for Nation Building: The Missing Focus and Ecosystem Kindly email your suggestions: satishk.scientist@gmail Brief-background: General impression given by most of our scientific leadership for not-so-bright status of our science is the lack of sufficient funding. Surely, we need to enhance funding massively. Is extra funding going to take our science to the next trajectory? Certainly NOT. The problems are much deeper and diverse. Let us do some soul searching amongst ourselves! Do we have the focus, culture, values and governance in our institutions and universities to produce world leaders in science? Why most of us crave for position of power in scientific establishment? We come to science as bread seekers and end-up as power seekers. How to deal with mediocracy and bureaucracy in Indian Science?? Many more... questions we need to answer if we want the world to take Indian Science seriously!
