AN ATMOSPHERE OF HATE The assassination of two police officers in New York City was the act of a single, deranged man. Still, there is a critical point ... that too many want to dismiss if not outright, ignore: the recent demonstrations and comments following the Michael Brown and Eric Garner cases ... did ... did ... play a role in this shooting. Before the 28 year old carried out the heinous crime .. he posted on his Facebook: Im Putting Wings on Pigs Today. They Take 1 Of Ours ... Lets take 2 of Theirs. He included references to the Brown and Garner cases. One week before ... Officers Liu and Ramos were killed while sitting in their patrol car --- protesters marched through the streets of New York City chanting: What do we want? Dead cops! They were part of Al Sharptons Million Marchers protesting against police violence. Did Sharpton take to the airwaves ... denouncing such chants? No. The man who is so quick to find a microphone so any other times ... was silent. He knew what those marchers said, but chose to say nothing. New York Mayor Bill de Blasio commented after the Eric Garner decision how he has always been concerned about his son, Dante, who is bi-racial. Mayor de Blasio said: I had to literally train our son how to handle encounters with police. (Let me add something here ... Mayor, as all parents do .... you simply tell your child if you encounter police ... be respectful and obedient.) Anyway, de Blasio went on to say: So many families ask .. is my child safe ... from the very people they want to have faith in as their protectors? de Blasios remarks encourage hate and fear and maybe incite violence just as those marchers shouting they want dead cops... and Sharptons silence. Then, you have remarks from President Obama regarding Trayvon Martin, and you have Attorney General Holder condemning the Ferguson police department before his investigation is completed. Both Obama and Holder have said that being black men, they understand the fear of many blacks who encounter police. Sure, they are also saying, violence is wrong... but most every time, they add ... but we understand.. As soon as they utter that phrase, they give approval to whatever follows. All of this ... at so many levels ... create an atmosphere of hate. So, for those who chanted: What do we want? Dead Cops... For those leaders who didnt immediately condemn such remarks ... and in fact, probably liked hearing that outrage... For those who were anxious to see something like this happen ... All of you ... got your wish. Two police officers were assassinated ... simply because they were ... police officers. Just before the killer opened fire, he supposedly told witnesses: Watch what Im going to do. Then, he walked up to the passenger side of the patrol car ... took a shooting stance and fired repeatedly. An Atmosphere of Hate ... suggesting that white police officers are guilty of hunting down and killing innocent blacks ... One officer killed Saturday was Asian and the other, Hispanic. To add to the tragedy, Sunday ... the day after Officer Ramos was killed ... he was to graduate from classes and become a chaplain. He wanted to be a full time minister. Where ... where ... are the protests ... over the assassinations of Officers Liu and Ramos? Police forces across the nation are on high alert for copy-cat killers ... but where are the protests ... over the assassinations??? Where are they? I dont want to hear Sharpton, Jackson, de Blasio and others mouth words of sorrow and spend more time denying any connection ... I want to see them in the streets, leading protesters calling for peace ... and denouncing killing police. I want to see them spend as much time in front of the cameras calling for respect for police as they have spent time drumming up more hatred and distrust. Mayor de Blasio has asked that Michael Brown & Eric Garner protesters to stop demonstrating ... until Offices Liu and Ramos are buried. So, there might be a moratorium ... or not ... either way, when it ends ... all of those creating this atmosphere of hate will be back. Or maybe ... just maybe ... those protesting will recognize the tone has to change. Protest if you desire, but you need to silence and in fact, condemn those who preach or create violence. You need to stick to the facts and not spread hate based on lies. We are all in this together.
