ANAMBRA GUBER ELECTION, KUDOS AND THE BITTER TRUTH On November 16th 2013 the people of Anambra filled out in the thousands to choose a governor who will succeed governor peter obi the perfect gentleman. On that early morning of 16th November, the old, the young , the youths, the mothers, the fathers all came out in their numbers. The INEC, the election observers both international and local were also present to monitor the election. There were also the presence of heavily armed security operatives both military and para –military. The media was not left out. The various media houses were also present to give the election the necessary coverage and give Nigerians the election update. The election was well contested by 23 candidates. But major contenders are chief Willie Obiano of the ruling APGA political party. Sen Dr. Chris Ngige of the APC, Comr. Tony Nwoye of the PDP and Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah of the Labour party. Political heavy weights from different political parties were there in Anambra to support their own political party. Reports had it that Mr. Peter Obi the sitting governor obeyed the security directive of movement restrictions and restricted his movements to the governor’s lodge. Reports further had it that he has to get police clearance before leaving for his Agulu home town for accreditation and voting. The elections was decleared inconclusive and was rescheduled for 30th November 2013. The outcome of that election produced Chief Willie Obiano as the governor elect of Anambra state. President GEJ has congratulated him on his well deserved victory and advised those who lost to work with him and take Anambra to the expected heights. THE LITMUS TEST HAS BEEN CONDUCTED IN ANAMBRA STATE The litmus test has been conducted in Anambra state and the result is out. The election was widely reported to be free, fair and violence free and of course the presence of of heavily armed security operatives couldn’t allow for violence. It was also reported that the APC candidate Sen Dr. Ngige discredited INEC and called for the cancellation of the election alleging irregularities in the conduct of the election. His PDP counterpart Comr. Tony Nwoye also called for the cancellation of the election alleging also sharp practices by INEC. HARD LESSONS FOR APC /THE BITTER TRUTH After the much touted big merger that gave birth to APC, this is the first battle/election they faced, Sen Dr, Chris Ngige is a good candidate in the wrong party. How can a political who orchestrated and supported the deportation of Igbos from Lagos win election in Anambra the heart of the Igbo race? How can a political party who welcomed the governor whom ojukwu made and he abandoned the party to join APC betraying the soul of IKEMBA ndi Igbo to win election in anambra? Unfortunately as well, APC who is agitating against the validity of supplementary election is a party who supplementary election produced their two strong members. Owelle Rochas Okorocha and Sen Chris Ngige. The duo are the first to benefit from supplementary election in Nigeria. Now they are speaking from the both sidesw of their mouth. If I may ask, who are the leaders of APC in the south East? Governor Rochas Okorocha. He led the Ngige campaign. He went to Anambra to campaign against the political party that made him. He is against a political part whom he rode on its back to become governor. It is amazing. Chief Achike Udenwa. A governor that ruled Imo state for 8 years but couldn’t produce a successor. A weakling leading the APC in south east. Sen. Annie Okonkwo. He couldn’t win his re-election into the senate for his second term. Sen. Osita Izunaso Another senator who could not win his re-election into the senate. This election is an eye opener for the leadership of the APC. The APC party is not welcomed in the south east. The much touted big merger that produced APC to confront the PDP IN THE 2015 couldn’t contend with APGA in Anambra. APC should forget about south east come 2015 general elections. I will rather advise them to limit and concentrate their resources to those few states where they are accepted. APC is dead on arrival in the south East. And to my friend Owelle Rochas Okorocha who led the campaign against the party that produced him, let us read the bible. Daniel 5 vs 26 ‘‘MENE MENE TEKEL UPHARSIN’’ this is the hand writing from Anambra state. We must continue to preach the gospel. Owelle the victory for APGA signifies that your reign in Imo state is in sight. FOR THE PDP I am yet to be convinced that the people’s Democratic Party is as strong as it used to be. Elections have been conducted in 3 states where the PDP is in the opposition and they lost it. PDP is an opposition party in Ondo state and Gov. Mimiko of the labour party won PDP hands down in the October 2012 election. PDP is an opposition Party in Edo state. Gov. oshiomole of the the ACN won PDP candidate hands down in the July 14 2012. And here comes Anambra. PDP has lost again. Could this amount to being limited in the use of federal might or non acceptance by Nigerians? PDP as a party, you have Imo state to reclaim come 2015. I am yet to see your readiness and preparedness to achieve this. KUDOS TO INEC . INEC did a wonderful job in Anambra election. There was transparency in the conduct of the election. This was evidenced in the re-run election held in the 65 polling units in Obosi, idemili North LGA. Inec didn’t disenfranchise them. INEC gave all the candidates the much needed platform for fairness and equity. KUDOS TO THE SECURITY OPERATIVES. The military, the police, the DSS, the civil defence, the immigration and others. Your conduct was so civil and non partisan. You did wonderfully well. KUDOS TO ALL THE CANDIDATES WHO ACCEPTED DEFEAT. KUDOS TO NDI ANAMBRA. Ndi Anambra, you are truly the heart of ndi Igbo. Obiano’s victory is victory for ndi Igbo, it is victory for democracy, it is victory for ndi Anambra and it is victory for ODIMEGWU OJUKWU (IKEMBA NDI IGBO). Finally KUDOS TO OKWUTE NDI IGBO Gov. PETER OBI. You are a man of your words, you are a perfect gentleman, you have proved to Nigerians that you indeed ruled Anambra for 8 years. You said you will do it and you did it. I hereby confer you the chieftaincy title of ‘Ekwueme ndi Anambra’’ even though you prefer to be addressed as Mr Peter Obi. Written by Ahumaraeze Obumneke Chibuike.
