ANC HUMBLED BY MADIBAS FINAL CONTRIBUTION The African National - TopicsExpress

ANC HUMBLED BY MADIBAS FINAL CONTRIBUTION The African National Congress has received with great humility and appreciation the news that Former President of the ANC, the Father of our Nation and Icon of our Struggle, Isithwalandwe/Seaparankoe Comrade Nelson Mandela has bequeathed, in his Last Will and Testament, that between 10% and 30% of the royalties flowing from to the NRM Family Trust must be considered for payment to the African National Congress. This contribution by Madiba has been directed to be used for the purposes of recording and dissemination of material that contains and promotes the policies and principles of the African National Congress since formation in 1912, particularly the policies of reconciliation amongst the people of South Africa. The African National Congress is deeply humbled by this contribution and is grateful to Madiba and his family. This generosity has been the hallmark of Madibas life over the many decades that he has been a dedicated servant of our people. We view this final contribution as being no different as Tata could have shared these resources amongst his family, yet his unwavering love for his people and their organisation, the ANC, was paramount, in keeping with the Madiba we have always known in terms of how he spent his life in the struggle and his life. The ANC welcomes the contribution and it will be used as directed. It will be kept as a special fund used to propagate the values Madiba stood for - of reconciliation, freedom, justice and human rights; continuing to build leadership with integrity and an ethos for selfless service to humanity. The ANC commits itself to upholding and preserving this legacy which is as an embodiment of the calibre of leaders who formed and led the ANC, guiding our struggle over decades. We will build on this foundation, developing leadership as part of our programme of political education, training South Africans in general on the values Madiba lived; that were part of the founding of the ANC. This is yet another one of Madibas many direct contributions to ANC programmes spreading the message of non-racialism and reconciliation. Our 2014 General Elections Manifesto, the Peoples Manifesto, that we dedicated to Tata Madiba recommits us to redouble our efforts to realise Madibas vision, shared by his people and humanity, for a better life for all, for a better Africa and a better world. Comrade Nelson Mandelas revolutionary spirit continues to inspire the ANC, its leadership and membership to work harder and selflessly towards our common vision as encapsulated in the Freedom Charter; a South Africa that belongs to all who live in it black and white, united in diversity, together moving South Africa forward.
