ANGER IS A CHOICE III While it is not a sin to be angry, it is deadly to endure in it. Anger is an energy-consuming, brain-tasking and futile exercise that colours our imagination, blinds our vision and causes us to be prisoners of our own volition. To be angry at a person or situation is to present such a person with the golden opportunity to give you ulcer. Remember that whatever can make you angry can also control you. It is painful and even debilitating to tarry in our anger – let not the sun set while you are still angry, the Scripture warns us. Without a doubt, on the road that leads from one’s past to one’s future, from one’s limitations to one’s freedom, one of the most treacherous stops is ANGER. “Don’t take too long in your anger simply because it feels good to the ego” has become one of my favourite ‘wisdom on marble’ because letting go of anger is healing - that I have learned. After all, anger is a choice! Nobody can make you angry without your sanctioning or approving of it.
