ANKA IS THE ONLY FIRST GENERATION LG WITHOUT NATIONAL POWER GRID: EMIR Emir of Zamfaran Anka Alh Attahiru Moh’d Ahmad has appealed to Zamfara state government to provide an alternative source of power supply to the people of his Emirate as the current source of their power supply which is connected to Sokoto national power grid always make them suffer several years without light. The monarch made the appeal while receiving Governor Abdul-Aziz Yari Abubakari in his palace in continuation of the Governor’s sallah homage to the seventeen Emirate councils across the state The Emir noted that despite huge investment by Zamfara state government in restoring the light initially connected from Sokoto State by the administration of Senator Ahmad Sani and intensified effort by the local government council as well as the community the effort has become fruitless and for closed to a year, people of the Emirates resorted to spending thousands of naira in buying diesel and petroleum substance. He urged the governor to connect their light with the Talatar-mafara power station so that problem militating against their frequent access to national power supply can be restored and solve. He implored the governor to award a contract for the reconstruction of Wuya-Anka road as the road constitutes a threat to motorists and commuters plying it on the daily basis. While in Gummi, the Emir of Gummi appealed to the state governor to rescue the people of Gutsura community as the current situation made it very difficult for the residents to either expand their house structures as well as lack of cemetery for the people of the community. He urged the governor to extend the road construction to more communities so that economic activities can be expanded and free flow of agricultural commodities can be enhanced. At the Bukkuyum Emirate council, the Emir of Bukkuyum Alh Ahmad Usman called on the governor to reconstruct a new palace for the emirate as the existing one cannot accommodate some reasonable number of guests. He specifically thanked the governor for re-constructing Anka-Bukkuyum-Daki takwas- Gummi road as that has made life easy for the people of the area. While at Gummi,Anka and Bukkuyyum governor Abdul-azeez Yari Abubakar told the emirs that He has decided to tour all the seventeen emirate councils for sallah homage and exchange pleasantries with the royal fathers. While congratulating the monarchs on the return of another Id-el Fitr and encouraged them to remain resolute in providing all basic needs of their people.
