ANNOUNCEMENT: The Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. (PLAI) is pleased to inform you that it will celebrate the 79th National Book Week from November 25 to 30, 2013 with the theme “Libraries: Promoters and Preservers of Arts and Culture”. In this connection, a Poster-making contest open to all college and university students in the country will be conducted. This contest aims to: a. promote libraries in the country; b. instill in the young Filipino learners the love for books and the Filipino values of respect and resourcefulness; and c. develop among the students essential reading and literacy skills. The mechanics of the contest are as follows: 1. The poster should be a visualization of the 2013 National Book Week Theme “Libraries : Preservers and Promoters of Culture and Arts.” 2. Use white illustration board (15” x 20”) in size. 3. Contestant may use any medium (craypas, water color, crayon, pentel pen, etc.) 4. The entry should be an original work and a certification to this effect from the dean must be submitted together with the contestant’s name. 5. The contestant’s name and school must be written on a separate sheet of paper and stapled or attached at the back of the entry. All entries will become the property of PLAI. 6. The criteria for judging will be as follows: a. Originality - 35% b. Pictorial design and composition - 15% c. Technique - 15% d. Relevance to the theme - 35% TOTAL 100% 7. The winners will receive the following prizes : 1st Prize: P4,000.00 and a Certificate of Recognition to the College/University 2nd Prize: P3,000.00 and a Certificate of Recognition to the College/University 3rd Prize: P2,000.00 and a Certificate of Recognition to the College/University (2x) Honorable Mention- P1,500.00 and a Certificate of Recognition to the College/University The submission of entries to the poster-making contest will start on September 30 to October 5, 2013, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the PLAI Headquarters., Rm. 301 at the 3F mezzanine of the National Library of the Philippines, T.M. Kalaw St., Ermita, Manila. Winners will be notified to claim their prizes on or before November 25, 2013.
