ANNOUNCEMENTS 11/13/2013 NEW NEWS Empower Girls is meeting Monday, 11/18. The Mock Newbery Meeting after school has been canceled. We will meet next Thursday. You will need to have read a total of 4-5 books by then, be ready to discuss them and have passages from the book that you want to share. On November 18-22, best friends photos will be taken during lunch. The cost is $10. Students can have up to 10 friends in a photo that will be guaranteed a spot in this years yearbook. Bring $10 or a check made out to Delhi Middle School to lunch. The Oak Hills Band Association Craft Fair will be held at Oak Hills High School this coming Saturday, November 16, from 9am-3pm. Admission is only $2 and children under 10 are admitted free. Over 260 crafters will be on display in the entire main floor halls of the building, with a selection of items and prices that make your holiday and birthday shopping easy. There are full concessions open in the Commons all day long, for your convenience, with a fairly extensive menu. This event is the primary fundraiser for the Oak Hills Band Association. Proceeds go toward: replenishing the band uniform fund, repair of band instruments, purchase of band instruments, scholarships for band and majorette members, marching/concert supplies for the band, clinicians for extra coaching within the band, awards and many other items beyond the regular school district budget resources. SURGE AFTER HOURS is an after school event sponsored by Shiloh United Methodist Church and held one afternoon/month at Shiloh. Just like last year, students will spend time playing video games, basketball, dodge ball and learning crafts such as sewing from 2:15 - 4PM. Then, from 4 - 4:30PM, students who decide to stay will come together for a big joint activity. Finally, there will also be the option for students to stay from 4:30 - 6:30PM for a free dinner and youth group time for all middle school students (including students from other local schools). For the 2013-2014 school year our Early Release days will be on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 1:30PM ( June 4th, however, is our last day of school and so we will dismiss at our normal time of 2:15). As teachers will be involved with collaborative meetings on Early Release days, all students will need to be out of the building and off school grounds by 1:45. Thank you for your help in this regard, as there will be no after school supervision on these days. MARKET DAY - Please support our PTA and enjoy quality food at the same time. Your student will be bringing a Market Day order form home each month from which you can shop either online or by filling out the order form and returning it with payment to the Main Office here at DMS. If you do not receive an order form, extras are always available in the Main Office. You can also order online at marketday. Our next Market Day pick up is scheduled for Monday evening, November 25th, from 6:45 - 7:30PM. Be sure to consider your Thanksgiving meal and entertaining needs and give Market Day a try - their quality food is so convenient and easily prepared - you will be sure to please your guests! SAFE SCHOOLS HOTLINE The Oak Hills Local School District and Delhi Middle School share your concerns about security and safety in our schools. As a result, the Oak Hills District Safe Schools Hotline will again be available to students, parents and community members to report information regarding the security and safety of both Oak Hills students and schools. If at any time you feel that there is vital information dealing with the safety of our students or schools, please call the Safe Schools Hotline at 574-9444. The Oak Hills Athletic Boosters created a Red and Black Wristband in support of Oak Hills student-athlete Robert Weidners and basketball coach Al Spickards fight against their cancer. The wristbands are available in the Athletic Department at Oak Hills High School or here at Delhi through Mrs. Hilvert for a $2 donation. Every dollar of the proceeds will be donated to fight cancer.
