ANOTHER BUSY WEEK FOR THE HAWKESBURY SES with our General Land Rescue team being called to five incidents over the last seven days. TUESDAY (about 2.20pm) and the rescue team are called down to Windsor to release a dog which was reported in a distressed state in a locked car. Fortunately this was resolved by Police and did not require our attendance. WEDNESDAY (about 9.15am) the rescue team assisted Ambulance Paramedics to gain entry into a house in Richmond; allowIng them to treat and transport a patient who, due to her injuries, could not open her front door. FRIDAY afternoon (about 2.20pm), the driver in a single-vehicle crash on Boundary Road, Oakville (Box Hill) died after his Volkswagen van left the roadway and struck a tree [from Police Media]. SATURDAY night (about 9.30pm) the rescue team rescued Merlin the cat from out of a rather tall gum tree in Kurrajong. The cat was about 3 metres higher than our longest ladder could reach; requiring the use of ropes and climbing techniques to reach our distressed and meowing patient. Merlin was carefully loaded into a pillow slip and carried back down the ladder to a very thankful owner. SATURDAY night (about 11.40pm), the driver of a Ford Falcon utility, travelling west on Bells Line of Road at Kurrajong Heights, died when his vehicle struck a power pole [from Police Media]. The rescue team spent a long night lighting the crash scene in support of Police Crash Investigators.
