ANOTHER FINE EFFORT FROM ALLEN Just re-watched Woody Allens - TopicsExpress

ANOTHER FINE EFFORT FROM ALLEN Just re-watched Woody Allens You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger (2010) and liked it even more than I did the first time. It has a star-studded cast which includes Antonio Banderos, Josh Brolin , Naomi Watts and Anthony Hopkins and an amusing story well told. Some of the funny moments are priceless, but in a quiet, not guffawing way. There are some lovely cameos from Freida Pinto (who must be one of most beautiful women in the world) and Roger Ashton-Griffiths, and just-what-you-would-expect performances from Hopkins and Banderos. Brolin adds nothing to the movie, but Watts and Lucy Punch are truly excellent. For me, however, the show is completely stolen by a stunning performance from Gemma Jones (Duchess of Duke Street, Sense and Sensibility). One huge mistake, I thought, was getting someone called Zak Orth to do the narration. Nobody can narrate Allen movies as well as Allen himself and often, I find, half the fun is the narration itself. Another fine effort. Those who say he hasnt done anything good in recent years are wrong. [Feel free to comment on the MOVIE. No discussion of Allens private life will be allowed.]
