ANOTHER INMATE LETTER: Thank you to all the wonderful people who, in lending their talent and expressing their love, make Timothys Gift what it is today! You all have made an impact in my life and in the lives of countless others. Maybe they cant find the words to write, but that doesnt mean they dont feel that about you. You see, men like me, we dont/cant admit when something moves us. Call it pride; call it a defense mechanism that we use so that we will not be perceived as weak. But that doesnt mean that you havent stirred something within us that could quite possibly be the catalyst for change. In times past I didnt fully appreciate beauty until she was no longer there. I didnt appreciate a rose until the scent of its velvety red petals was but a wisp of fragrance that lingered in my memories. I didnt appreciate the warmth of a smile or the safety and security of having a friends standing next to me when I felt all alone. It was only in the void...in the absence of beauty...in the absence of love...in the absence of friendship. And in the profound depths of loss of innocence, the loss of freedom, the loss of my own sense of purpose and the loss of love that I understand how much I longed to be loved and to love and to appreciate the little things in life. It took me losing everything to understand that love is not simply a commercial concept used to sell chocolate on Valentines Day. Love is so much greater to share hope, to bring a smile, a kind word, a song and an embrace. Love is sacrifice and leaving the comforts of the familiar to enter the uncertain in order to show someone who feels helpless that they are loved...to tell them, Your are important. You matter! Everyone at TG has done this for me and for every other man and woman who have received the gift of your love. And for that, I say thank you! timothysgift
