ANOTHER MOMENT FROM THE ROAD I was flying home yesterday, I had a three hour flight from San Antonio to New York. Im seated in my coach seat on the aisle when a huge man approaches and nods to indicate hes in my row. When I say this guy was huge I mean sumo wrestler huge, fat but big as well. He tried to slide gracefully into the window seat but it was a struggle. I certainly had compassion for the guy, however my bigger concern was that once the occupant of the middle seat showed up we were going to have a problem, and the plane was full so thered be no seat shuffling. I had some writing that had to get done as well and I did not see how Id be able to put my seat back tray down with this Wooly Mammoth jammed beside me. I guess the big guy could sense my trepidation because he looked at me and said, Dont worry nobody else is coming, I bought em both. I said, You bought both seats? He said, Yeah its still a way cheaper than one first class. Buying two coach seats because your so big that you cant fit into one may be cheaper than buying a first class ticket but in my opinion-its the classiest move I may have ever been privy too while traveling. I said to the guy, I know you did it for you but as the person seated in your row I just want to say thanks. He smiled and said, You got it. Then the big fella drifted off to sleep and I got my writing done.
