ANOTHER POLICE BRUTALITY AND EXTRA-JUDICIAL KILLING Mobile Uploads Prince James Ogheneakpbo Uwanogho Oyoma Edewor, 33, Allegedly Shot Dead In Cold Blood By The Police In Lagos (PICTURED) Late Oyama Edewor 33-year old Oyoma Edewor was allegedly killed on Saturday, May 10, 2014 by a police sergeant attached to the Festac Command at the 3rd Gate check point in Festac, Lagos. According to reports, Edewor was involved in a minor accident somewhere around Lekki, he decided to seek the services of a towing company to help convey the vehicle to his residential quarters in Festac. Late Edewor’s vehicle still hooked to the towing van On his way back home, he was asked by the police who were on duty to stop but the driver of the towing van refused and this resulted in the police hijacking a bus to go after them. The police finally caught up with them at the 3rd gate. The driver quickly abandoned the van and ran away. The police dragged out Edewor from the car and ordered him to sit on the floor. The police accused him of stealing the vehicle. After fruitless attempts by the deceased to convince the police he was not an armed robber, one thing led to another and he was shot dead by a policeman named Sgt. Otene who according to report was believed to be drunk and off duty. One of the deceased best friend who witnessed the whole incident had this to say: “Someone I grew up with was killed yesterday by the police. He was raised in Festac and was killed in Festac by the same people who are sworn to protect us. His car broke down and he called a towing van. While on their way, they were stopped by the police. The driver of the van refused to stop for whatever reason. When he eventfully stopped, the driver ran out leaving Oyoma Edewor and his friends to deal with the police. They were Asked to sit on the floor which they did. While explaining to the officers what had happened, one of them opened fire on Oyoma. The crowd which had gathered seeing this got involved. The policeman said he suspected he stole the vehicle. If you know Festac, you would know it’s a small community. Passerby identified him as a member of the community. When the police realized a mob was growing, they fled the scene. Word spreading now is that the policeman was drunk and off duty. This is not the first person being killed by the police. Its very sad this is still happening. The IG’s son was involved in a crash, it’s news but someone’s child was murdered in cold blood and there is silence. Oyoma cannot die in vain. Let the authorities hear about it. Please forward to anyone you know. Broadcast this I beg of you. The blood of the innocent are being shed.” — with Love Obire, Otobene Onos, David Emma Okiemute, David Odiri Igbru, Anthony Ijomah, Onome Henry Odinde, Onokpasa Douglas, Onorievu Akponah, David Favour Oyibo, Isiorho Eddy, Loveth Akpeki, Leon Erezi, Vokke Okoro, Victor Ikie, Ven Oyovwe Okpara, Vicky Okparavero, Victor Ajekuko, Onome Okome Emoefe, Okoyano Yoma Festus, Nwobe Charles, Fina Udi, Bright Egbife Omamuyovwi, Linda Eya Ikpuri, Adeyele James Adedayo, Sunday Uwanogho, Uwanogho Dieberuo Prince Kupa, Frederick Bethel Saduwa, Glory Okparavero, Kenneth Ojirevwe Uwanogho, Kenneth Okpara, Patricia Mainajin Eguonoghene Ikpen, Philip Erhenede, Ese Okobiah, Edward O.
