ANVIL GRACES PHILKOREC Induction Ceremonies. Honored to represent the Association of Young Filipino-Chinese Entrepreneurs (Anvil Business Club), together with Chairman Peter Mangasing, as we witness the simple but formal induction ceremonies of the Philippines-Korea Economic Council, Inc. (P HILKOREC), led by PHILKOREC Chairman Dr. Elton See Tan (a fellow Anvil director), with no less than Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Hyuk Lee of the Republic of Korea (ROK) as guest-of-honor and inducting officer, at the South Korean Ambassadors residence in North Forbes Park, Makati City. In short and austere ceremonies, the new officers were inducted amid great hopes of spurring more Korean companies to invest in the Philippines. There are some 1,000 Korean firms in the Philippines, the biggest being Hanjin Shipping with a USD2 billion investment in the country. Total trade between South Korea and the Philippines was estimated at USD11.5 billion in 2012, an increase from the 2011 total of USD10 billion. The Philippines-Korea Economic Council, Inc. (P HILKOREC) is a non-stock, non-profit corporation organized under Philippine laws in June 1978 under the auspices of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) to promote mutually beneficial business opportunities and enterprise as well as fellowship between the Republics of the Philippines and South Korea. Membership in PHILKOREC is open to all CEOs, CFOs, and other senior officers of Philippine companies doing business with Korean companies. Member companies are primarily manufacturing and service organizations in the fields of agribusiness, import and export, consumer goods, auto parts servicing and manufacturing, consumer goods, durable equipment, educational services, metro rail, insurance, hotels and leisure, security services, steel manufacturing, construction, maintenance works, and other sectors.
