ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEAS/TIPS? I have a 91 escort gt 1.8 dohc 5 speed. Bought the car as it sits. trying to get it running good, hoping not to have to swap motors. planning to race it. When it idles it is like it either A has cam work done which I dont think it does.... or B runs like shit. Try to rev it up and it doesnt want to freely. takes forever to open up. will only turn to 5000 rpms. I checked cam timing, changed pcv valve in valve cover. air intake tube, and entire airbox including sensor. Changed plugs. The wires, distributor. Its was on E so i went and got some sea foam to try and clean injectors. changed fuel filter. put 6 gallons of 100 octane non leading gas in it. and cut the exhaust off before the cat incase it was plugged. All of that and it hasnt changed 1 bit. And runs best when dist it turned as far counter clockwise as you can go. more advanced you turn it worse it idles/runs. Only thing I did notice it that when I remove the vac line off the fuel pressure regulator it drips gas. Havent swapped it out yet. Could that be it?? cause of it all?? Thought Id see if anybody has some input towards it. And I did a compression test on it and it has 180-200 on all 4 holes. Let me know. thanks
