ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN IN 2015 IF PDP CRISIS PERSISTS - KWANKWASO Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso of Kano State has expressed fear that if the current political trend continues in the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, only God Know what will happen in 2015. He was of the opinion that lack of listening ears and other undemocratic activities by the party’s leadership are some of the major problems bedevilling the party. Receiving the Chairman, Senate Committee on MDGs and Leader of the joint committee of the National Assembly on MDGs to Kano, Senator Ali Muhammad Ndume, at the Government House in Kano TODAY (Wednesday), Governor Kwankwaso said what happened last week, when the Police asked five out of the G7 Governors, to disperse from a meeting in Abuja was unconstitutional. Narrating how the meeting involving five serving governors and senators was disrupted, in his sitting room at Kano Governor’s Lodge, Aminu Kano House, Asokoro, Abuja, the governor revealed that while the meeting was in progress, a Police DPO suddenly appeared, asking the participants to disperse, on orders from above. “We were discussing in my sitting room when the DPO came in and asked us to disband. Such has never been happened during military era”, governor Kwankwaso said. Consequently, he said their meeting on that day is to make them prepare for an unscheduled invitation from the presidency. “We were discussing on how to approach Mr. President and come up with a stand when invited, but this meeting was disrupted by a DPO. We didn’t offend anybody but like criminals, a DPO was sent to disrupt our meeting”. Governor Kwankwaso said. He therefore called on the party’s leadership to be just and fair not one-sided saying, “what is happening in PDP now will not augur well of the either for either of the two conflicting camps within the party”. Turning to MDGs projects and other developmental activities since he became governor of Kano state over two years ago, Governor Kwankwaso pointed out that the government’s achievements in terms of infrastructure and social services are numerous, tangible and far-reaching. He, therefore, assured that his administration will continue to work with all stakeholders towards ensuring that Kano benefits from MDGs projects and assured that the projects will be executed well. Earlier, Sen. Ndume told the governor that the they were in the state to inspect the projects of the MDGs. “From what we have seen after going round we are tempted to ask you, Your Excellency (Gov. Kwankwaso), where are you getting the money to execute all the projects we saw?”, the Senator stated. He therefore commended Kwankwaso for his commitment to service delivery. According to him, the committee will soon encourage the United Nations to come and see the counterpart projects being executed by Kano state Government, with a view to encouraging the government do more and to explore areas of support.
