AP to add 410 MW hydel power capacity in 2 years.... Andhra Pradesh, which has a hydel generation capacity of 3,829 MW, is planning to add 410 MW in two years by adding additional units at Nagarjunasagar, Pulichintala and Lower Jurala. The first unit of Lower Jurala with a capacity of 80 MW is likely to be commissioned in two months. The second and third units (80 MW each) will be ready by July, 2014. The 50-MW Nagarjuna Sagar tail pond unit and the 120-MW Pulichintala are expected to be completed during the financial year 2014-2015. Significant inflows into reservoirs helped generate 1,016 mill units this financial year as against 633 MU in the same period last year, showing an increase of 383 MU or 60.4 per cent. The Srisailam plant is able to generate 700 MW as against its full capacity of 770 MW. If this trend of inflows continues, the hydel generation target of 6,755 MU can be met for 2013-14.
