APC IS DROWNING AS EXPECTED! *Ize-Iyamu, 4 Edo APC Lawmakers, Chieftains, Thousands Join PDP *We’ll Soon ‘Decamp’ All APC Members to PDP in Benue—Suswam Four lawmakers of the APC in the Edo State House of Assembly, on Monday, announced their defection to the PDP along with members of a faction of the Edo APC that was being led by a former chieftain of the party and former vice chairman, South-South, of the defunct ACN, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu. The decampees, who announced their defection to the PDP along with thousands of their supporters across the 18 LGAs of the state were joined by some appointees of the state government, who resigned from the party and their offices. The four lawmakers, who joined the PDP were Jude Ise-Idehen (Ikpoba/Okha), Friday Ogieriakhi (Orhionmwon II), Patrick Osayimwen (Oredo East) and Abdulrazaq Momoh (Etsako I), bringing the number of the PDP lawmakers in the 24-member Assembly, to eight. The political appointees, who left the APC included the Special Adviser to Governor Adams Oshiomhole on Project Monitoring, Mr Osaretin Edosomwan; the Director of the Poverty Alleviation Agency, Mrs Evelyn (Omokhodion) Igbafe; a former member of the state House of Assembly, Etiosa Ogbeiwi and a host of others. Others were the Special Adviser on Legislative Matters to the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Matters, Mr Tony Osazuwa; Special Adviser on Commerce, Industry and Investment, Mr John Odiase; an Executive Director on Project Monitoring and Implementation, Mr Shuaibu Elamah and the Executive Director, Sports, Mr Joseph Osagiede. Announcing the formal defection of the aggrieved APC members in Benin, spokesman of the group and former state chairman of the defunct ACN, Prince Tony Omoaghe, said their decision to leave the APC was taken after an extensive consultation with other members of the party across the state. “We have come to the inevitable conclusion that Nigeria is gradually evolving into a two-party system. Therefore, common sense dictates that having left the hostile environment of the APC in Edo State, the only logical option is to join the PDP. We are not unmindful of the attempt by some uninformed commentators to draw an ideological line between the two parties.” Meanwhile, the PDP in the state has called on the National Judicial Council (NJC) to investigate the judgement that was delivered on Saturday by the Edo Local Government Election Appeal Tribunal which validated the election of Mr Sam Oboh of the APC in the disputed chairmanship election of Esan North East Local Government Area of the state.
