APC SAVED NIGERIA FROM EBOLA DISEASE (In Response To A Press Statement By Olisah Metuh, PDP National Publicity Secretary) Joe Odey – Calabar In a press statement issued on Sunday, 5th October, 2014, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisah Metuh, he said APC was not happy with the speed and energy with which the Ebola scourge was tackled and brought under control. The publicity secretary went further in his overt attempt to denigrate APC by stating that APC would have loved to see the disease spread in Nigeria. It is well understood that Metuh is an employee of PDP and is paid by the party. We know also that by issuing his characteristically banal statements, he is merely laboring to please his paymasters, score cheap political points, as well as guarantee his job and monthly salary. But it is important to point out that his statement on the Ebola matter proves that he lacks basic knowledge of Nigeria’s current affairs. If he were not so ignorant, he, Metuh, would have known that the spread of Ebola was halted solely by the efforts of APC with very minimal and lukewarm support from the federal government. When the disease reared its ugly head in Lagos, the commercial capital of Nigeria, the PDP Federal Government merely urged the masses to buy hand sanitizers and protect themselves. It was the Lagos state (APC) government – which Metuh is criticizing – that responded proactively to the situation by purchasing protective gears, training medical personal and equipping hospitals to handle the virus. The APC state also deployed very efficient public awareness projects that help contain the disease. When Ebola was ‘exported’ to Rivers, (APC state also), by a high ranking bureaucrat in the PDP Federal Government, it was the APC led administration of Governor Rotimi Amaechi that worked assiduously to contain it and save the people of the state and the entire southern Nigeria from the plague! How then can Metuh claim that APC wanted Ebola to spread? When Nigerians were dying all over the country from excessive intake of sodium chloride (salt) due to misinformation, if he were truly patriotic, he would have used his high office as National Publicity Secretary to sensitize the people, but he did not. He rather maintained a studied silence while the people were dying daily. He only knows best how to incite unwitting countrymen, stir primordial sentiments, and set Nigerians against one another using messages of hate and religious propaganda. The bogus allegation by Metuh goes to prove that he and his PDP taskmasters have been feeding everybody with lies and phoney tales all this while. Those of us who love this country have been praying earnestly to God to deliver us from the hands of PDP and the good lord will surely answer our prayers; come February 2015. In Jesus name, Amen.
