#APD Shooting #Commentary: I am a staunch supporter of police and those who put their lives in harms way for the betterment of our society. In the last few days, hundreds have come out in protest of the #Albuquerque #Police Department for what they deem as excessive use of force in relationship to the shooting deaths of a few people. First of all, I have little sympathy for those who have been shot due to their excessive two page wrap sheets. The most recent candidates were charged with assault on a police officer, assault with a deadly weapon, drug dealing, and child abuse. Cream of the crop if you ask me. Second, if you are going to challenge a police officer with a gun, knife, or back your car up toward an officer, you deserve the consequence - which normally comes from a revolver or pistol. Third, just because you are mentally challenged doesnt make you immune to the criminal system, nor does it negate responsibility for your actions. If a dog were to bite a human repeatedly, that dog would be put down. I dont see any difference here -- humans are animals as well. Last but not least, in recent days, I have seen family members crying about their lost family member. I would ask, Where the hell were you when that person was raising hell and going on and out of the criminal system? For most of these families, the tears and cries equal a settlement (to the tune of millions) which I just dont agree with. Until these family members begin worrying about their family member prior and make change, these individuals will continue to face the justice of the criminal system.
