APGA crisis: How it started. This recent crisis ravaging APGA started from Enugu state chapter of our party immediately after 2011 general election. It was the injustice done to Enugu state chapter by Umeh that brought about todays crisis in APGA. Prior to 2011 general election, the Enugu state APGA worked very hard to mobilize ndi Enugu into APGA. The chapter was hoping to record some improvements at the end of the election and was confident of winning some constituencies and zones. But their efforts were shattered the moment Umeh went into alliance with Sullivan Chime. The Umeh - Chime alliance started when Chime fell out with the then PDP chairman Okwesilieze Nwodo. Umeh told ndi APGA Enugu state that Chime had agreed to join APGA if he fails to get PDP ticket. While Umeh was waiting for Chime to join APGA, the crisis in PDP Enugu state between Chime and Nwodo got messier and unfortunately for Nwodo, Chime won a court judgement that removed Nwodo as the PDP chairman. So Chime regained Enugu state PDP structure and it was clear he cant join APGA any longer. However, Umeh instead of going back to the drawing board on how to re engineer APGA again in the state rather compromised the party further. He rather went to Chime and had another agreement with him to field weak candidates in Enugu state. Recall that Chamaroke Nnamani formed PDC and it was another headache for Chime. So Chime doesnt need extra ache from APGA so he used Umeh to compromise APGA and planted weak PDP members into the party. Umeh filed his pocket from Chime and abandoned Enugu state APGA. It was this compromise that angered Apga members in Enugu state and immediately after the election in which APGA did not win even a single seat, a group led by Ichie Jude Okuli emerged. The aim of this group was to bring to the public the atrocities of Umeh in Enugu state APGA. And how he undermined their efforts in that election. This group started writing petitions against Umeh. They copied govs Peter Obi and Rocha Okorocha the then APGA govs. Umeh angered by the petitions from this group connived with his pattern in crime in Enugu and his state chairman one Otakagu, and expelled Ichie Jude Okuli and other members of his group. But this group was not deterred by their expulsion,, they fought harder. They then approached Enugu state high court to also remove Umeh citing his violation of APGA Constitution. While this suit was pending at the state high court Enugu. Umeh and Obi started having some issues. The misunderstanding grew bigger and both fell out. Obi then saw a window through the group suit already in court to deal with Umeh. Obi quickly identified with the group and supported their court case and finally, the Enugu state high court threw Umeh out on October 2012. This judgement triggered other actions and subsequent appeals. However, I would like our Facebook triggers and apologists who knowing about APGA to understand that the Umeh deliberately killed APGA in Enugu state. And the consequences of that action is what we are seeing today in APGA. As we face another election in 2015, Umeh must be stopped by all means if APGA must survive and succeed.
