APGA’ll recover Imo in 2015, says Okwu A factional National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Mr. Maxi Okwu, has said the party will win back Imo State in the 2015 governorship election in the state. Okwu, who said this on Thursday during an interview with our correspondent, noted that the tussle for the leadership of APGA and the crisis that had arisen from it had weakened the party. He, however, said the party would resolve its crisis before December and would be ready to win elections in 2015, especially in the South-East. He said, “The Supreme Court, where we are now, just resumed from vacation and so the process has begun for the final and decisive battle as it concerns the leadership of our party. The Anambra State governorship has already been settled in favour of APGA. Other states are open, except for states like Osun, and Ekiti where governorship elections will not hold in 2015. In our major catchment area, which is the South-East, we will be able to the win in the remaining four states in the region. “In Enugu we are in contention there. We don’t go along with the PDP’s zoning arrangement in the state, so it’s an open game for us in Enugu where I come from. In Abia State we have a very credible candidate; that means we can win the state. In Imo, we are set to recover our mandate which was fettered away by Governor Rochas Okorocha to the All Progressives Congress. In Ebonyi, I concede we are weak but let’s see what happens before then.” Okwu said the Imo electorate had always voted in favour of APGA, claiming that the party won the governorship elections in the state in 2003 and 2007 but was denied victory on both occasions. He said, “In 2003, APGA won the governorship election in Imo but it was taken away from us. In 2007 APGA won again, it was taken away again. And in 2011 we got it and Okorocha took it away to the APC. We are going to recover it. I’ve been there for campaigns. Imo is APGA; APGA is Imo. Before December we are going to be in contention and I believe we will make waves.”
