APPEAL Respected Members, At this onset of Election of the Bengal Association, I am appealing to your magnanimity that you people are still going to select a ‘specific panel’ by casting your valuable vote whether it is comprised with any Tom, Dick or Harry? Or apply your mind to assess the credential of the candidate in specific fields (Social, Education and Culture), for a specific institution (the Bengal Association), whether they are really worth or potential productive force or not? On the surface it appears very simple, but the crux of the problem lies deep within. Please think about it! I draw your attention on another important point! If you notice that, there is a composition of certain numbers of people or ‘Gayen Manena Aapni Modal’ who floats everywhere - and holds the Key Posts or Positions in the Executive Council, be it for any School; Samitee; Samaj; Samsad, Parishad or be it for the Puja Bari or Federative Bodies! But my humble question to these gentlemen, “tell me honestly, why are you so much interested in taking the Key Post in various organizations? Is it simply to serve the institution? If that is so, then that can be possible even being an ordinary member as well to start with! If someone thinks he can contributet, even then, one can do this from the outside also! So, what is the interest?” Nobody has taken up this issue seriously, till date! This composition of gentlemen has made these organizations a place of playing the Game of Snakes and Ladder! Unfortunately, the Bengal Association is not any exception today! Then how come the city’s Bengali Culture will survive then? Because, in every organization these composition of gentlemen are repeating the same menace and spilling the same rotten bins year after year! As a result every organization is decaying today! What a shameless people they are! They have never loved the organization at all except themselves only to create a ‘cultural hegemony’, to control the ‘enlighten people’ and in this way they have never succeeded to include these ‘enlighten people’ or so, as a ‘social force’ for the organization to the best. Despite of proving themselves as a laughing stock, even then, they are not ready to create a space for someone new, who can have a plenty of new ideas for making the organization a more dynamic one for the cause of promoting the city’s Bengali culture. If it were otherwise, the presence of these so called numerous stalwarts should have brought in some developments in at least few areas of Bengali Culture in real sense. Organizing Bangla Utsav or screening of some Films and sponsoring some Plays, makes you feel a joy ride of what a great promotion of culture it was, but actually doesn’t termed the promotion of Bengali Culture at all in real sense. Often, the other organizations too, repeat the same thing! So what is new about it! Therefore, this is the grey area which needs to be addressed today with a new look, new vision by considering the time and age. And no other organization can address this except the Bengal Association. And only the Bengal Association! But today the Association has shifted from its Mantra - the Philosophy, the Spirit and the core issues which give it an unique position in the Society and the cultural horizon of the city unfortunately lost its sanctity and relevancy today! We treat this institution like any other Club, Puja Bari, Samaj or Samiti! We hardly respect this organization! Even we hardly know this organization, its Aims & Objects! Thererefore, we must understand, its importance and Bengal Association should be meant for always Good and Quality people. Only then one can expect the Quality of Organization, Quality of Culture, and Quality of Social work. Make it a Life Line for Bengali community. Otherwise, Alas! The leading light of the city’s Bengali Culture is fading away! Hence, I am addressing to your esteem and appealing to your conscience - Please Sir/Madam, Wait for a while, Asses the Credential of the Candidate before casting your valuable vote, do not hesitate to send the Quality one! But send only the Quality People and stop this ‘menace’, this ‘orgy’ of various ‘arithmetic’ and ‘equation’ based Electoral Engineering!
