APR 21 Around the League: Week 3 Recap Fantasy Journalist Apr 21, 2014 05:44 am ET Special Delivery AlbertPujols042014 Photo by USATSI Albert Pujols produces 32.5 points to lead KoosmanMatlackSeaver in victory Team of the Week: KoosmanMatlackSeaver sponsored by KoosmanMatlackSeaver were able to grind out a solid victory this week against Sonnys Sluggers, winning by a score of 303.5 to 272. The 303.5 points KoosmanMatlackSeaver scored set the high mark for the league this week. The win brings KoosmanMatlackSeavers record to 2 - 1, while dropping Sonnys Sluggers to an identical 2 - 1. KoosmanMatlackSeaver won with a balanced effort, as ten players outperformed the league average. Albert Pujols was the first among equals, recording 32.5 points. That was the 2nd most of any first baseman this week. Sonnys Sluggers were let down by their middle infielders. Matt Carpenter scored 8 points, Chase Utley got 8.5, and Jean Segura dropped 9. Segura has now failed to exceed the average players point total in any week this year. KoosmanMatlackSeaver will be going against Mike hunt smells like Trout next week. Meanwhile, Sonnys Sluggers will collide with Dabusdriver15. Yep, Thats It ErnestoFrieri0401413 Photo by USATSI Ernesto Frieri nets negative 7 points in loss to Mike hunt smells like Trout Scoring the fewest points in the league for the week is bad strategy. Just ask Coach James. Boats Bullies ended up pretty far behind in this one, losing 287.5 to 224 to Mike hunt smells like Trout. The loss makes it three in a row for Boats Bullies, dropping their record to 0 - 3. The win brings Mike hunt smells like Trout to 1 - 2. Mike hunt smells like Trout got a nice group performance in the win, as seven players beat the league average. Shelby Miller was just a bit ahead of the others, tallying 34 points. Giancarlo Stanton chipped in as well, scoring 32.5 points. Stanton got lots of style points on his way to an MLB leading 26 RBIs, hitting a walk-off grand slam. Ernesto Frieri and C.J. Wilson were double trouble for Boats Bullies, together totaling -8 points. Wilson hopefully has some credit left over from last weeks 56 point performance. Frieri and Wilson had plenty of company, with Matt Garza (5 points) being the worst of six other underperformers. If it makes Coach James feel any better, it seems like Garza was just as upset about his play this week. Although they took the loss, Boats Bullies did get some good news. Clayton Kershaw threw at full strength in a bullpen session on Sunday and reported no ill effects. Hes now hoping for an early May return. Three-peat RyanBraun050113 Photo by USATSI Ryan Braun and Fister?! I Barely Cano Her make it three in a row against Longballs Fister?! I Barely Cano Her came into the game as the biggest favorite this week and proceeded to make the projections look good. They slid by Longballs, winning 262 to 246. The victory makes it three in a row for Fister?! I Barely Cano Her, bringing their record to 3 - 0. The loss drops Longballs record to 1 - 2. Fister?! I Barely Cano Her benefited from a power surge this week, blasting 9 home runs. That was the highest HR total of any team. Meanwhile, there were plenty of chefs cooking up this weeks loss for Longballs. Craig Kimbrel was the worst of an eight man group of underperformers, notching -4.5 points. Kimbrels struggles this week make his recent shoulder issues look a bit more ominous. The schedule for Fister?! I Barely Cano Her brings Ryan Express around next week. Meanwhile, Longballs will take on Boats Bullies, who comes into the game looking for their first win. All Eyes on Me JordanZimmermann041914 Photo by USATSI Jordan Zimmermann (36.5 points) leads Ryan Express to a win over NGC Hopefully Coach Tony has some fingernails left. After last weeks close game, he got another dose of touch and go action this week. NGC lost a heartbreaker against Ryan Express, 249.5 to 245.5. Losing by only 4 points, NGC suffered the closest loss this week. The loss drops NGCs record to 2 - 1, while the win brings Ryan Express to a matching 2 - 1. Ryan Express had plenty of players step up in the win, as eight starters beat the league average. Jordan Zimmermann was the best of the bunch, delivering 36.5 points. Ryan Express also got the benefit of a 31 point performance from Greg Holland. Apparently, Holland must have felt bad after last weeks 3 point effort. Meanwhile, NGC had many underperformers, but David Price stood out, dropping -4 points.
