ARCHBISHOP Petero Mataca has been described as a humble servant of Christ by the Bishop of Waikato. Speaking at a funeral gathering in Lami today (Thursday), Bishop Dennis Brown of Waikato, New Zealand, said Mataca longed to be in Christs presence. Whenever he arrived back at home in New Zealand or in Fiji, the late Archbishop would go directly from the car to the chapel to pray in the presence of the Eucharist, Brown told mourners at the Immaculate Conception Parish. Even if hed been out for a round of golf his first stop was the chapel to be with our Lord. Bishop Brown will be the main - a close friend of Mataca - traveled to Suva with the Fijian Catholic community in New Zealand to present their reguregu. Brown will celebrate a vigil Mass at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Suva at 6pm. Archbishop Matacas body leaves the Suva Private Hospital at 3pm for the cathedral where it will lie until a Resurrection Mass at 10am tomorrow.
