ARCHIVE / PETITION / THUH END “Theres an old joke... two elderly women are at a Catskill mountain resort, and one of em says, Boy, the food at this place is really terrible. The other one says, Yeah, I know; and such small portions. That Woody Allen bit is what I thought of when I tried to post the link to the archive from todays THUMP and GROWL with Kimberly Massengill. None of the ways to pull a direct link are working any more, so youll need to go to the main archive page (wbai.org/server-archive.html), and hunt for it by date and time. Theyve already removed Thump and Growl from the archive system (cheese-louise, guys, the body isnt even cold yet), so these final few shows will be listed as Talkback, which is the name of the new/old call-in talk show thatll replace me after this month. HOWEVER. Dont bother. Todays archive is even more unlistenable than last weeks. I gave it 15 minutes, and it was a maddening series of drop-outs in the audio, occasionally punctuated by a screech. It made my brain bleed a little, so I dont recommend you try. Such small portions. AND ANOTHER THING. That lovely, poetic email I referenced on todays show? (You had to be there.) (Literally.) Well, the next one I opened was a forward of a back-and-forth between Mario and a listener who wrote him the ugliest missive about keeping my show and Bochans. Dude. If you have to resort to name-calling, youre not doing so on my behalf. I ask anyone whos writing to Mario, be a grown-up, okay? Mario and I are meeting next week. Nothing has changed, but were meeting. Then theres this. Last night Listener Lisa Sabath set up a petition to keep Thump and Growl at WBAI 99.5 FM New York. Lisa, youre a peach. Many thanks.
